Bible in one year: Acts 10-12
Memorise: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and l in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15-5
Read: Malachi 4:1-2
We understand from science that human and plant life depends very much on the sun. If the sun was taken away, nobody would survive on earth, for without the sun, there will be no vegetation and all water would freeze. We also understand from scripture that Christ is our sun, for it is written:
But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. Malachi 4:2
It therefore follows that no believer can live the Christian life without the sun of Righteousness. This was why Jesus said “… Without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). Jesus Christ is indispensable to every believer in everything. He is indispensable not only to us, but even to the unbelievers also. For John 1:9 says:
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Increasingly, due to the pressures of work, school, family and ministry, many Christians are living more and more independent of the Sun of Righteousness. No wonder they are drying up and can hardly point to fresh encounters of the God in their lives.
The sun is a symbol of glory. Psalms 24:7-10 reveals that one of the names of our Lord is “King of Glory”. This glory is so integral to His essence that it was a major part of His last conversation with the Father before he went to the cross; a kind of “to close the deal” conversation.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which l had with thee before the world was. John 17:5
Now the amazing thing is 1 Peter 5:1 says that as a child of God who keeps his or her relationship with God, we are partakers of that glory and that this glory will be revealed. Praise God!
PRAYER POINT:
Father, reveal your glory in my life.
