THE MINISTRY OF PARENTING.
Grammatically speaking, parenting is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood.
Biblically, it also includes but not limited to raising a child in a godly way.
Your job as a parent is not just to raise children who are intellectually, emotional, physical and morally sound but to raise spiritual territorial commanders, giants and champions. Examples of such parents are:
(1) Eunice and Lois who trained Evangelist Timothy.
(2) Hannah-She raised the world's greatest prophet-Samuel
(3) Jochebed- She planted Jewish nativity and spiritual heritage into the heart of Moses.
The list is endless...
SOME OF THE STEPS TO GOOD PARENTING:
✍Bring them up in the way of the Lord.
✍Compliment them when they behave well or achieve a feat.
✍Be a disciplined disciplinarian and set limits in everything. Prov 29:5
✍Always be available and accessible to your children to attend to their needs (emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually), questions, listen to them, share their pains, their pleasures, and give them correction when necessary. Never you be "a-present-but-absent-parent.
✍Be an example of what you want them to be. They watch and imitate you in every area of life.
'Austin Sorensin' says "a child is not likely to find a father in God unless he finds something of God in his father".
✍Maintain a-two-way-traffic open communication with your wards; listen to their views on critical issues.
✍Be flexible in dealing with them as they grow from one stage to another, eg childhood,adolescent to adulthood.
✍Love them unconditionally but not spoiling them, adore but don't idolize them. Appreciate but dont feel sorry for them when you need to be firm.
✍Build good self esteem, self worth and good values in them.
BITTER FRUIT OF NEGLIGENCE
Prov 29:15 says "if untrained, children will bring shame on you.
Prov 22:5 says children have a tendency to do evil but can be corrected.
Fact is, children left untrained and unattended will eventually become a threat to their parents, neighbors, the church and the society at large.
When God gives vision, He makes a provision.
Know this 👉: God has equipped all parents with the necessary tools to raise godly children.
PANACEA/SINE QUA NON
Is it still possible to raise a godly child in our corrupt and immoral society? YES!!! If and only if you pay the price👇👇👇
(1) Correct them immediately instead of glossing over their mmisconducts.
(2) Never allow them have their way all the time, enforce right moral values on them against their wish.
(3) Prov 22:15 children have inner desire to do evil but do whatever it takes to put them on the right track.
(4) Be firm but dont be harsh, Col 3:21
Great men/women of all ages have attributed their success in life to good parenting.
